Vera Barkalova
Vera Barkalova (photographer), was born and raised in the Moscow region.
Got a degree in journalism (Alexander Gordon's course) and has graduated from the Rodchenko School of Photography and Multimedia (Igor Mukhin's course). The artist exhibited not only in Russia, but also in Europe, Ukraine and Asia.
Vera worked in duo with sculptor Ekaterina Kovalenko. She worked in the genre of total installation as a photographer, videographer and sound artist.
The main themes of the artist's works are social taboos, closed communities, physicality, marginal currents, dark philosophy, anti-state.
The artist received a grant from the Garage Museum, is a two-time winner of the Young Photographer of Europe competition.
Engaged in charitable activities. Has an experimental musical project Barkal. At the moment she is trying to leave Russia.
